There we were. Two young lovebirds. Strolling across the Rialto Bridge. Devouring gelato. Eagerly anticipating our ubiquitous honeymoon gondola ride.

When in Venice!

It was at that precise moment that something prescient occured to me. Hadn’t I written a song called Venice when I was first there as a 23 year old?

Not only had I written it – I’d recorded it too. And I was pretty darn sure I had a copy of it on my iPhone.

Connecting the dots, I realised that if I played the song on speaker, I basically had a little playback device, which is all you need for lip syncing.

The only technicality that remained was the matter of explaining to my blushing bride that our gondola ride was going to take on a slightly different complexion.

With great trepidation I pitched the big idea, then hurriedly went on to explain how to use the film feature on our new happy-snap camera.

Suffice to say, I’ll never live it down – but to my credit, I’ve now got a music clip shot in Venice.

Clip production budget – 80 Euros for the gondola ride.

The original track was recorded in 2000 with the live drums added in 2013 by Nick Karasavvidis on our return. The track was then mixed by Doug Brady and mastered by Martin Pullan at EdenSound Mastering.
