3 Second Work Out
SHOT 01
AUDIO:
A contemporary reworking of KC & The Sunshine Band’s “Shake Your Booty”. Initially it sounds a bit muffled – as if heard through iPod ear buds from half way across the room.
VIDEO:
We open up on a closeup of an attractive young 30-something woman who sits on the edge of her bed tying up the shoe laces of her trainers. It’s early morning and her bedroom is flooded with daylight.
SHOT 02
VIDEO:
Mid-shot of her sitting on the edge of the bed from the waist down about to get up having finished tying her laces.
SHOT 03
VIDEO:
Mid-shot of her from the waist upwards, now in the lounge room, stretching her arms behind her back.
SHOT 04
VIDEO:
Mid-shot of her, shot from the waist downwards, lifting her left leg behind her and giving her quads a stretch.
SHOT 05
VIDEO:
The camera pans diagonally, moving downwards along the line of her body as she leans into the wall with both arms, stretching her lats.
SHOT 06
VIDEO:
We cut to a mid-shot of her, shot from the chest upwards as she secures her iPod Shuffle to her right arm arm before placing the white ear bud into her right ear.
SHOT 07
VIDEO:
We cut to a tighter shot of her securing the iPod ear bud into her left ear before looking down at her watch and realising that she’s running late for work. Her face drops as she realises that she doesn’t have time for a workout. But just as suddenly her eyebrows raise as she’s clearly thought of a solution, the smile quickly returning to her face.
SHOT 08
VIDEO:
We cut to a mid-shot of her walking away from us, moving down the hallway to towards the lounge room. There’s an unmistakable bounce in her step as she throws her gym towel over her shoulder.
SHOT 09
VIDEO:
We cut to a mid shot of her, shot from the shoulder up, smiling and reaching up to open one of the cupboards in her kitchen.
SHOT 10
VIDEO:
We cut to a tight closeup of her ripping the top of an Optislim Life sachet.
SFX:
The sound of the sachet being ripped open.
AUDIO:
At this point the muffled music effect stops and we now hear the full hi-fidelity version of the track.
SHOT 11
VIDEO:
We cut to a tight closeup of her shaking a large plastic cup with a red plastic lid that has the OptiSlim logo on the side.
SHOT 12
VIDEO:
We cut to a close up of her as she closes her eyes and starts drinking the shake, savouring the moment.
SHOT 13
VIDEO:
We pull back to a mid-shot as she continues drinking while swaying on the spot as she grooves to the music.
SHOT 14
VIDEO:
Cut back to a tight close up as she finishes her gulp, licking her lips with great satisfaction as she moves the shake away from her lips.
SHOT 15
VIDEO:
We cut back to a mid-shot as places the shake container back onto the kitchen bench as the shot blurs as the camera shifts focus and pans downwards to the kitchen table which boasts the whole Optislim range.

VIDEO:
Dissolve to an animated end screen featuring a hero pack shot that slowly revolves while a purple and white swoosh animates in the background.

VIDEO:
We cut to a closeup shot of her legs from behind, framed from the knees down, walking down the hall way. She is now wearing sheer stockings and high heel shoes as her brief case rocks back and forth with the motion of her walking.
SHOT 18
VIDEO:
We cut to a mid-shot of her from behind, blurred out, as she opens the front door, dressed in a smart work outfit, ready to face the day.
This TVC followed on from a press ad that I initially developed which introduced the gym-weary public to the Optislim, “3 Second Workout”.
While I love working on TVCs, the exciting thing about this one was that it was being produced exclusively for the UK market where Optislim was being sold through the Lloyds Pharmacy chain.
Part of that excitement was also due to the fact that I was born in London and there was the very real prospect that many of my relatives might see some of my work from the comfort of their loungerooms.
The ad itself dramatises the simple scenario of a girl getting ready for gym. Realising that she’s run out of time, she downs a glass of Optislim’s finest. The 3 second workout personified.
Shake yer booty indeed!
