Blessed with an abundance of talent, including an iridescent voice and the knack for writing perky little pop songs, Alannah Deutrom is like a unicorn draped in a rainbow on a cloudy day.
I’ve shot a number of gigs and events for Alannah, but this gig at the Prince of Wales was my favourite.
Getting amongst it, I shot most of the gig on a monopod which allowed me to capture the kaeildoscopic colour without having to resort to a speedlight which would have washed it all out.
As you can see, this was a winning strategy as I was able to really pin down the shifting spectrum of light, as well as Alannah’s crowd wowing performance.
It was also quite a special gig to photograph as the bass player was none other than Jackson Freud, son of Australian pioneer punk maven, James Freud of The Models.
