I’m not gonna lie. It was an amazing thrill getting to shoot on the red carpet for MIFF.
Snapping Hollywood heavyweights like Geoffrey Rush and Anthony LaPaglia from amongst the scrum of photographers really got the adrenaline flowing . “Over here Geoffrey. Over here!”
It was for the launch of an animated feature called 9 Dollars 99 which had called for their dulcet vocal talents.
As an aside, I only realised as I was watching the film that I recognised the storyline which had been adapted from an obscure graphic novel that I’d bought from a musty old comic bookshop at the top of a rickety old building in downtown Chicago, years earlier. The guy who ran that shop was an eccentric old recluse who as it turned out, used to fly kites with Buckminster Fuller, the iconic 20th century American architect who invented the geodesic dome!
The rest of the photos were taken at the spectacular after-party that was produced by event design supremo, Joni Rubin.
